ESTATE PLANNING

Estate planning entails a multitude of considerations and decisions at Crawford Law. Here, you will be walked through the different written instruments (e.g., Last Will and Testament, Trust) that may be the most beneficial to memorializing whom you want to inherit your estate.

In addition, estate planning at Crawford Law also includes a Health Care Directive, Mental Health Advance Directive, and Power of Attorney. A Health Care Directive allows you to choose whether, in the event certain conditions are met, you elect to have life-sustaining treatment if you have a terminal condition or are in a permanent unconscious condition and cannot effectively communicate your wishes. A Health Care Directive allows you to choose whether, in the event certain conditions are met, you elect to have life-sustaining treatment.

Lastly, a Power of Attorney allows you to nominate trusted individual(s) to make financial and health-related decisions on your behalf in the event you do not have the capacity to do so.

It is important to make these decisions early because as we know life is uncertain and nothing is promised; however, having these documents memorialized and legally executed allows your wishes to be heard and the ability to be enforced.
